Launch of The Northern Mariner 32, no. 3 (2022)
2023-05-29Hello all,
I am happy to report the launch of The Northern Mariner's third issue of 2022. The issue features articles from Walter Lewis and Roger Sarty on the life and times of George Henry Wyatt and from George L. Zimmerman and Duff W. Crerar on the role that Commander F.R. Berchem and the Porte-Class gate vessels played in the survival of the Canadian Naval Reserve in the 1970s. The issue also includes a research note from Chris Madsen exploring the coursework completed by officers while attending the École de guerre
navale in Paris between 1920 and 1939. As usual, the issue contains a bevy of thorough and helpful book reviews. Finally, don't forget to check out the editorial, which provides a more detailed introduction to the issue and its contents. All the best,
Peter Kikkert,
Editor, The Northern Mariner

2021-11-02Hello all,
I am happy to report the launch of The Northern Mariner's second issue of 2021. The issue contains articles from Dr. Frank Blazich on naval lighterage and Anglo-American success in the amphibious invasions of German-occupied Europe during the Second World War, and from Dr. Stanley Adamiak on Royal Navy operations during the Mexican-American War. Dr. Evan Rothera's review essay covering several recent works on the slave trade is also a welcome addition. As usual, the issue contains a bevy of thorough and helpful book reviews. Finally, don't forget to check out the editorial, which provides a more detailed introduction to the issue and its contents.
All the best,
Peter Kikkert,
Editor, The Northern Mariner
